VOLUNTEERING WITH THE NDCA

Would you like to be involved with the mechanics of the association, but you are not sure serving as an officer is the right fit? Well, worry no more, NDCA has several committees you could be a part of for a shorter time period. Refer to the NDCA board listing, for who is currently chairing these committees and then just call or send an email.

CONFERENCE COMMITTEE – Chaired by NDCA President-Elect

  • Assist in completing tasks related to conference planning
  • March through approximately January

AWARDS COMMITTEE

  • Reviewing and voting on nominations for NDCA awards
  • November through February

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

  • Reading and ranking graduate student scholarship applications
  • Help organize the Silent Auction at the state conference
  • November through February

GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS COMMITTEE

  • Stay abreast of legislation effecting counselors, nationally and statewide
  • Federal legislation: Year long commitment
  • State legislation: January through May, biannually

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE – Chaired by NDCA President-Elect-Elect

  • Reach out to new counselors and graduate counseling students
  • Provide information related to the benefits of membership
  • Year long

NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE – Chaired by NDCA Past President

  • Create a list of potential candidates for NDCA president elect-elect office
  • July through January

ETHICS COMMITTEE

  • Year Long
